I Love You Still - Poem

I love you still – By Amira RA

I love you

I adore you

But I mourn you

When our loves fall

You leave me in vain.

You said you love me

But you never said goodbye to me

You lie awake as if sleeping

Your hand is cold to touch.

The doctor said you have 3 months to live

And yet, you leave me in 2 months.

It crushed me when they buried you in the morning

You are in a better place, they said

But where are better places than with me?

I held you down when you vomited at the toilet.

I held your hands when you cried as the chemo made you sick I cry for you when your tears have drained out.

I love you still when your hair has fallen out

Even when you sob that it makes you ugly

But I love you still because you are the man I marry in health and sickness.

You are in a better place, they said

Where is a better place than with me?

Do they know? You get cold when you don’t wear your sock. Do they know? You like to sleep wearing iron man pyjamas, It’s silly, But you are the silly man I married.

I love you still when they have buried you, and everybody else has left Because we promise till death do us apart.

I love you still years later. I adored you still

I Mourned you still.
